The doctoral program consists of both Core Area Courses in Educational Psycholgy and school psychology professional courses.

Student coursework in the Course Area Courses may vary depending on prior graduate degree coursework and participation in waiver exams. An example of a typical course plan is provided below:

** Defending the dissertation may occur at any time; however, it must occur no later than the summer prior to internship if  students wish to be exempt from automatic registration for 3 hours of dissertation each long semester until graduation.

a  Students must complete one multicultural competency course. Your faculty adviser or the program director must grant approval for a course other than EDP 381. These courses can be taken any semester.

  As part of the qualifying examination process, i.e. prospectus, you must take two semesters of 396T (Directed Research) before  the end of the turn-in semester. Summer registration is permissible only with the prior agreement of the prospectus adviser,  who must agree to be available to supervise during the summer.

In order to begin work on your dissertation, you must be advanced to candidacy. Prior to advancement, register for EDP 395 to work on your dissertation under supervision. Completion of prospectus, all required domain courses, and specialized competency requirement are necessary for advancement to candidacy.
