Commitment to Diversity

The School Psychology Program is committed to supporting diversity and multicultural issues in the field. We seek to integrate multiple ethnic and cultural perspectives into our coursework and practicum training experiences. We have an active and engaged Program Diversity Committee, a joint effort of students and faculty to explore ways to enhance diversity offerings throughout our program. For example, we are starting a multicultural and diversity specialization that will emphasize coursework, assessment placements, and mental health issues that span a wide range of child and family characteristics. Our faculty members have successfully obtained funding to provide support for training school psychologists from diverse backgrounds as well as to support client services in the community. We are committed to building culturally competent researchers and practitioners who can contribute to strengthening diversity in the field.
