Masters Without Thesis or Report

EDC 380R  Educational Research and Design

or another research course with consent of advisor.

Masters With Thesis

One course in research design or specific quantitative or qualitative research methods is required.  A course in program evaluation or statistics can also be used to satisfy this requirement. Any course listed under Step 1 or Step 2 of the Doctoral Sequence listed below would be eligible (assuming proper prerequisites).

Doctoral Sequence

Prerequisite for EDC 385R (3 hours)

  • EDC 382R  Fundamentals of Statistics  (Formerly EDC 684PA Topic 15)
  • Other course choices for this requirement include:
    EDP 371  Introduction to Statistics
    EDP 380E  1-Fundamental Statistics
    EDA 381P  Quantitative Research Design and Analysis
    Statistics course brought in from other institution as approved by the STEM Graduate Studies Committee.

STEP 1 (6 hours)

  • One of the following three courses:
    EDC 385R  Introduction to Quantitative Research  (Formerly EDC 684PB Ed. Research Design and Analysis II)
    Other course choices for this requirement include: EDA 381P, EDP 382K or statistics course brought in from other institution as approved by Graduate Advisor
    EDP  382K
    EDP 482K  1-Experimental Design and Statistical Inference
  • AND EDC 386R  Introduction to Qualitative Research  (Formerly EDC 385G Qualitative Research in Educational Settings)

STEP 2 (6 Hours)

Two Advanced Research Courses—either Quantitative, Qualitative or Mixed-Methods. Other courses may meet this requirement with the consent of the Graduate Advisor.
