SSE Master of Art and Master of Education Degree Program
he Department of Curriculum & Instruction offers two Masters degree programs in Social Studies Education: Master of Arts and Master of Education. The main difference between the two degrees is that the MA requires an independent report or thesis, while the M.Ed. requires additional elective course work. Both programs focus on teaching and learning in urban contexts. The degree is designed to help practicing social studies teachers extend their understanding of the importance of linguistically and culturally diverse learning communities in constructing ideals of participatory citizenship education. Please contact Dr. Anthony Brown, SSE Program Adviser, for more information about these degrees.
