Undergraduate Secondary Social Studies Teacher Certification

Secondary Social Studies teacher certification is now offered through the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. This 18 hour, three-semester sequence begins in the summer before the senior year and is tailored for undergraduate students at UT Austin working toward a bachelor’s degree in history, geography, government, economics or other humanities disciplines. The program is designed to help Social Studies teacher candidates develop knowledge, skills, and dispositions to support teaching and learning in linguistically and culturally diverse urban settings. $1000 scholarships are available for the first twenty students to register.
