Eligibility is restricted to applicants to graduate study who are ranked in the top 10% nationally in the applicant's discipline.

Continuing Fellowship

Eligibility is based on major accomplishments since entering the program in FLE.

Teaching Assistantships and Assistant Instructor Positions

Limited positions are available to qualified FLE students in various departments. Applications and supporting document should be sent directly to hiring department (for example, apply to the department of Spanish and Portuguese for a position teaching those languages).

Applicants with at least 3 years public school teaching experience should apply to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction for assistantships supervising student teachers.

Starting in the academic year 2004-2005 one assistantship will be available to teach Spanish to nursing students.

Other Part-Time Teaching Positions

Professional Development Awards

Professional Development Awards are sometimes available to provide funds for travel to attend professional meetings. A form may be obtained from the Foreign Language Education Office in SZB 528 (south entrance).

Other Financial Aid

Other Financial Aid includes short-term loans, tuition assistance loans, conventional student loans, work-study programs, and other assistance based upon need. Information for other financial aid is available from the Office of Student Financial Services.
