Doctoral Students Will Present at TESOL and AAAL

This is an exciting year for us. Not only will TESOL and AAAL be held in Dallas this year, but also 13 of our FLE doctoral students and one MA student will be presenting their research work at these conferences. Many of these students have multiple individual presentations as well as co-presentations with other fellow FLE students or faculty. The topics of these presentations showcase the range of research work conducted at UT. These topics include pronunciation teaching; intercultural development through study abroad programs, classroom teaching, and tellecollaboration; literacy acquisition; computer-mediated communication; second language acquisition in virtual worlds; academic writing development; identity and language ecology issues; learning communities; social networking; language learning; and extensive reading and reading comprehension development, among others.

Dr. Horwitz proudly commented “I’m especially looking forward to TESOL and AAAL this year.  FLE students and alumni will be making so many cutting-edge presentations.  It will be difficult to attend all of them!”
