Lenovo Study Group

The Lenovo Study Group is made up of three language and literacy faculty members and the Director of the IDEA Studio in the College of Education. The study group was formed to explore the use of mobile technology (I.e. Tablet device) in literacy teacher education. Specifically, the group has been focused developing a line of research around the following questions:

  1. How do tablet-based prompts for reading/writing conferences support novice teachers in making close observations of children’s reading and writing behaviors? To what extent can such scaffolds support teacher education?
  2. How does a pen-enabled tablet form sustain teachers’ reliable and ongoing informal data collection (notetaking, image, audio, and video artifact gathering) toward more effective student learning?
  3. How do tablet-supported displays of literacy understandings influence instructional decisions about literacy?
  4. How does the organization and presentation of systematic literacy data influence teaching?
