Ken Tothero is the coordinator of Special Projects for the Learning Technology Center.

Ken's background includes eleven years as a secondary level physics teacher followed by five years in Austin's dynamic educational multimedia industry. During that time he authored the Holt Physics Interactive Tutor, developed for Holt, Rinehart and Winston and winner of a NewMedia Magazine InVision Award as the best education product of the year.

Ken came to the LTC in 2001. His areas of interest lie in online learning environments, learning analytics, and data visualization.

David Kim—Research Engineering Scientist Associate III

David Kim is the Vision Studio's s/w developer, providing expertise in C/C++, Java/JSP, Python, Ruby, C#/VB/Silverlight, Flex/Flash/Actionscript, Oracle/MSSQL/MySQL as well as in other areas. David holds a Master of Science in Information Studies degree and his areas of interest are in Information Retrieval and Information Architecture.

David developed a content-based multimedia retrieval system, and is currently working with Data Science, including Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Big Data technologies, and Data Visualization.

David completed Ph.D coursework and holds a Master's degree in Computational Linguistics and developed several Natural Language Processing applications. David joined the the Learning Technology Center in 2005. Since then his work has included back-end programming, front-end design, and database engineering.

Daniel Veliz—Radio/Television/Film Specialist III

Daniel Veliz is the Visual/Audio Specialist for the Vision Studio. He provides insight to video and multimedia applications and has expertise in Final Cut Pro, Flash, and Audio/Visual for producing/editing various projects within the program.

Daniel holds a BS (Bachelor of Science) degree from the Radio-Television-Department at the University of Texas at Austin. He joined the Vision Studio in 2007.

Sarah Akhtar—Graphic Designer

Sarah Akhtar serves as the Vision Studio's graphic artist and front-end web developer. She primarily uses Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator to create web designs, page layouts, and any necessary graphics for the program's projects. Sarah recieved a BA in Arts and Technology from the University of Texas at Dallas, and has been with the Vision Studio since 2011.

Cesar Navarrete—Graduate Research Assistant

Cesar Navarrete is a usability documentation specialist with the Vision Studio development team in working with Learning Technology Center. With extensive experience in K-12 education, current research projects include mobile learning, emerging technologies for 21st century learning and computational thinking in mathematics learning. Having worked on development projects involving online teacher training module in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency, Cesar holds a Master of Education Curriculum and Instruction and is doctoral student in the Learning Technologies.

Noelle Sweany—Instructional Designer/Project Manager

Noelle Sweany is an instructional designer and project manager for the Vision Studio. Noelle works closely with faculty members to help conceptualize their projects as well as assisting in evaluation. Her research interests focus on applying learning theory to the design, development, and implementation of learning technologies, primarily examining how self-regulation may be enhanced through the development of technology-based tools. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Instructional Technology from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to her work at the LTC, she also teaches graduate courses in the Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning department at Boise State University.
