Request for Proposals

The proposal period is closed. We expect to announce a new RFP in Fall 2013 via College-wide email and on this site.

The College of Education is excited to announce that the Learning Technology Center is now accepting proposals for a new round of the Vision Awards. These projects support the design, production, and implementation of innovative and visionary applications of learning technologies within the College. Faculty projects that are selected can receive expert support in web design, application development, and multimedia production. Instructional design and project management services are also available to help faculty plan and carry out their development efforts. Projects are undertaken in close collaboration with the faculty member.

Successful proposals:

  • incorporate technology in a way that enhances and/or expands the faculty member's classroom instruction.
  • are of a scope that requires approximately 100 to 300 person-hours to complete.
  • show that the project is sustainable without additional program support once development is completed.

Application Process

It is strongly recommended that faculty members consult with the Vision Award team as they begin conceptualizing a project. Staff members can help faculty clarify project needs and requirements, brainstorm potential technology solutions, and lay out a strong design framework for the proposal. In addition, team members can help faculty clarify the scope of the proposed project and identify additional potential sources of support. To set up an appointment, email Ken Tothero with the subject line "Vision Awards".

Proposals can be very brief, but should include descriptions of the following:

  • goal(s) and specific objectives of the project
  • final product
  • audience for the product (including how many individuals might benefit from it)
  • activities necessary for the realization of the project
  • resources already in place that will contribute to the completion of the proposed project
  • how the project will be sustained once development is completed

Please submit applications (Word or pdf) no later than February 4 to Ken Tothero.

  • Proposals due: February 4, 2013
  • Announcement of award recipients: February 15, 2013
  • Kickoff meetings with project teams: February 16 - February 28, 2013

If you have additional questions about the program or the proposal process, please contact Ken Tothero.
