With today’s digital technology, video, long a mainstay of instructional media, can easily be incorporated into computer presentations, Web pages, and other digital media programs. The LTC can help with all aspects of video use and production.
Four digital video editing rooms equipped with high-end computers, large monitors, and video-editing software are available and may be reserved.
In conjunction with these facilities, a variety of camcorders are available from Equipment Checkout, and Adobe Creative Suite software is available on several computers in Computer Lab B. Custom orientations on topics such as video production, editing, and digitizing are available to assist with all aspects of any video project.
Audio is an important instructional medium, from simple recordings to the narrations, sound effects, and music of video and multimedia programs. Make audio recordings in an acoustically treated video editing room, and manipulate and edit your recording with GarageBand. A set of royalty-free production music is available to add to soundtracks. Orientations cover producing soundtracks for presentations, videos, and multimedia programs.
Digital still cameras, available from Equipment Checkout, are easy to use and allow for the inclusion of digital photographs in Web pages, computer presentations, and other digital presentations. Orientations that cover all aspects of digital and traditional photography, scanning, digital imaging, and color reproduction may be arranged.
The LTC has many resources for creating paper-based instructional materials including lettering equipment, a 25” wide automatic laminator, transparency makers, binding equipment, paper cutters, and light tables. Tools such as scissors, rulers, adhesives and markers are available for checkout with a UT ID. Various supplies such as posterboard, construction paper, and comb binders are available for sale. Lab assistants on duty at the LTC Services desk provide assistance with equipment, check out tools, and sell supplies.
