How We Help

The IDEA Studio is the first stop for CoE instructors who want to use technology to support teaching and learning. The IDEA Studio offers a wide variety of services, ranging from drop in visits for help with software, to consultations for planning a technology-rich course syllabus or supporting college-wide initiatives to foster 21st century learning. Some examples of recent activities include:
- Worked with Curriculum & Instruction faculty to devise effective strategies for using interactive whiteboards in instruction
- Brought together a cross-college faculty working group to study mobile learning in higher education
- Met with Educational Psychology representatives to determine the classroom technology options best suited for their teaching goals
- Helped teacher education students understand the legal and ethical ramifications of their use of social media, through online training and face-to-face discussions
- Worked with a Special Education faculty member to plan a course unit on teaching in online environments
- Discussed the use of video cases with a faculty member and showed her the capabilities of the IDEA Studio’s online video case tool (Collaborative Tool) available to faculty and students in the CoE.
- Showed an Educational Administration faculty member the technology options and requirements for providing a streaming video feed to students who cannot attend a class face-to-face
- Provided teacher education students in-class training on how to use iMovie to document their teaching practice.
- Helped a Kinesiology and Health Education faculty member redesign her course materials to shift from Blackboard to Canvas
