Director’s Welcome

Welcome to the Learning Technology Center (LTC) in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. The LTC provides a wide array of technology facilities, equipment, and services for the students, faculty, and staff of the College—everything from managing the College’s data networks and Web servers to providing a great place to study. Whenever technology resources are needed for learning, teaching, and research, the LTC can help.
Our technology classrooms combine projection and flexible furnishings, providing instructors a 21st century teaching environment where they can effectively use technology in instruction and collaboration can flourish. Faculty can reserve these rooms or our computer lab, and request equipment delivery, through a convenient online reservation system. We also provide faculty technical support and data backup services, and our IDEA Studio helps them effectively integrate technology into their curriculum and research.
Students can check out equipment, get help with laptop software, learn about digital media production, meet with classmates, or recharge laptops. Computers and laser printing are always available in our Open Lab.
This wide range of services is provided by the friendly and knowledgeable LTC staff. Every day they are eager to help faculty and students make the best and most efficient use of technology to accomplish their goals.
The LTC also participates in pilot projects and collaborative activities that explore the use of new technologies to benefit education. The College of Education Visualization Laboratory, the Presidential Timeline Web site, and the use of iPads in College instruction are just three of the recent results of these efforts.
I invite you to visit the LTC, learn more about all that we offer, and meet our staff. We can provide tours of our facilities and orientations for classes. We hope to see you soon in the Learning Technology Center.
