How to Change Your Password using OS X

Note: You must change your password from a Mac computer. Due to technology limitations, you cannot change your password using a Windows computer. These instructions are for changing your password from a Mac OS X computer.

IMPORTANT: You must choose a password that meets the complexity requirements for our servers. The password you choose must adhere to the following rules or else the server will reject your newly chosen password:

  1. Not contain all or part of your account name
  2. Be at least six characters in length
  3. Not be the same as the previous two (2) passwords used for your account
  4. Contain characters from three of the following four categories:
    • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
    • English lowercase characters (a through z)
    • Single digit number (0 through 9)
    • Nonalphanumeric characters (e.g., !, $, #,

1.) Select "Go" from the top menu bar and then select the option "connnect to Server..."

 

2.) In the dialog boxthat appears, type in the full address of the server that contains the user account with the password you want to change. When you are done click the button labeled "connnect".

 

3.) You should now see a username/password dialog box. Click the button labeled "Options..." 

On newer versions of MacOS X the Options... button has been replaced with a gear icon as shown in the screenshot below:


 

4.) Press the button labeled "Change Password..." in the dialog box that appears. If you have a newer version of MacOS X then instead of a dialog box appearing you will see a menu item named Change Password... appear after clicking the gear icon.

 In the window that appears, type in your old password and then the new pasword you desire. When you are done typing, press the button labeled OK.

 

5.) Your password has now been changed. It may take up to 15 minutes for the change to be processed.
