How to Install The College of Education VPN Program - Mac
NOTE: If you are not comfortable with installing the program or don't have the ability to install programs on your computer, contact the College of Education technical support group for assistance.
Step 1 - Determine If You Have an Intel or PowerPC Mac
The instructions on this web page apply to Macs with Intel processors in them. Mac computers manufactured before 2006 have a PowerPC processor in them which is not compatible with the VPN program these instructions apply to. This first step of the instructions will help you determine if you have an Intel or PowerPC Mac.
1. In the upper left corner of your screen, find the Apple icon in the top menu bar. When you locate it click on it.

2. In the menu that appears select the About This Mac item.

3. Look for the Processor information. If you see the word "Intel" in the processor information then you have an Intel Mac. Proceed to the section Step 2 - Install the VPN Program on your Intel Mac Computer. If you see the word "PowerPC" in the processor information then you do not have an Intel Mac and the instructions on this page will not work for you. Contact LTC Technical Support for an alternative program to use to connect to the College of Education VPN.

Step 2 - Install the VPN Program on Your Intel Mac Computer
1. First you'll need to download the VPN installation program to your computer:
2. Locate the file you downloaded and double-click on it. The file will be located in your Downloads folder and will be named openvpn-connect-current.dmg.

- A drive icon will then appear on your desktop named OpenVPN Connect and a window will open with the the VPN installer program in it. Double-click on the OpenVPN Connect Installer program to start it.

6. When the installation completes, press the Close button.

7. Restart your computer to ensure the VPN program installation completes.
8. After you restart your computer and log back into it, you should see the OpenVPN Connect program icon in the top menu bar to the left of the clock.
