How to Connect to the Meadows Center File Server (Windows XP, Vista, 7)
1.) Windows XP: Click on the Start button and select the "Run..." menu option.
Windows Vista, Windows 7: Click on the Windows globe icon in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Note: If you are trying to access the server from an off-campus location, you must first connect to the University's VPN service.
2.) Windows XP: In the "Run" dialog box that appears type "\\files.meadowscenter.org" without the quotes. Press the OK button when you are done typing.
Windows Vista, Windows 7: In the "Start Search" field right above the Windows globe icon, type "\\files.meadowscenter.org" without the quotes. Press the ENTER key on your keyboard when you are done typing.
Error Message Encountered with Windows Vista/7: If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 to connect to the server, you may encounter an error after typing in the server address in the "Start Search" field and pressing ENTER. If this happens, try connecting to the server using "Windows Explorer". You can launch Windows Explorer by clicking the Windows Globe Icon in the lower left-hand corner of the screen and then clicking: All Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer. When Windows Explorer launches, type "\\files.meadowscenter.org" without the quotes in the field at the top and then press the ENTER key. Below is a screenshot of where you need to type the server address:

3.) Enter your username and password for the server in the dialog box that appears. Press the OK button when you are done.
- If your username and password gets rejected by the server, try prefixing your username with "CI236\". For example, if your username on the server is jdoe, the username you would specify in the dialog box is: CI236\jdoe
4.) If the username and password you entered in the previous step are valid, a list of shared folders and items will appear in a new window. Double-click the share you want to access which will usually be either "Texas Reading Server" or "Accounting".
5.) A list of available folders will now be shown. You may now open the folder that contains the files you want to access.
- NOTE: You will only be able to access folders which you have been granted access. If you try to open a folder that you have not been granted access to, you will get an "access denied" error.
