How to connect to coruscant.edb.utexas.edu (Windows XP)

1.) Click on the Start button and select the "Run..." menu option. Note: If you are trying to access the server from an off-campus location, you must first connect to the University's VPN. The University has a firewall at the edge of the campus network that prevents Windows File Sharing access from off-campus locations.


2.) In the dialog box that appears type "\\coruscant.edb.utexas.edu" without the quotes. Press the OK button when you are done typing.


3.) Enter your username and password for the server in the dialog box that appears. Press the OK button when you are done.


4.) If the username and password you entered in the previous step are valid, a list of shared folders and items will appear in a new window. Double-click the share you want to access. You can now access the files and folders in the share just as you would access files and folders located on your computer. Note: You will only be able to access shares which you have been granted access. If you try to open a share that you have not been granted access, you will get an "access denied" error.
