Apple File Sharing from an OS X Computer
- Typical connection method from an OS X computer.
- UNENCRYPTED - When connecting to the server using this method you are doing so over an unencrypted connection. Transfer of unencrypted Category-1 data requiring confidentiality or integrity over computer networks violates UT Austin information technology policies. If you need to transfer Category-1 data use the SFTP method.
Secure File Transfer Protocal (SFTP)![]()
- You can use any SFTP client program to connect to the server but the instructions here are for the Fetch program which is available on the Bevoware website.
- If you will be connecting from off-campus, you will need to first connect to the University VPN before you will be able to establish an SFTP connection to the server.
- ENCRYPTED - When you connect to the server using this method you are doing so with an encrypted connection which is required for the transfer of Category-1 data requiring confidentiality or integrity.
Windows
- Connection method if using a Windows computer located on campus. Faculty, staff, and students can use this method with computers off-campus as well if they use the University VPN.
- UNENCRYPTED - When connecting to the server using this method you are doing so over an unencrypted connection. Transfer of unencrypted Category-1 data requiring confidentiality or integrity over computer networks violates UT Austin information technology policies. If you need to transfer Category-1 data use the SFTP method.

- You can use any SFTP client program to connect to the server. The freeware program FileZilla is capable of connecting to the server with SFTP. You can download FileZilla from the Bevoware website.
