Model Technology Classroom Features and Equipment

A Macintosh iBook laptop computer is available for each student. A wireless network is provided and power connections are also available on the desktop. The laptops can be stored away when not in use.

Projection System

A large 72" rear-projection screen at the front of the room presents the instructor computer image as well as video from a DVD player and a document camera. Flush-mounted ceiling speakers provide program audio and instructor speech reinforcement.

The instructor console is equipped with a Mac Mini computer, laptop connection, front keyboard/mouse drawer, side pull-out drawer for the document camera and a compartment for the DVD player. A touchscreen panel and the computer monitor sit on the surface of the console which also provides plenty of space for writing and for materials.

The 25 student desks can be arranged in several different configurations, including rows, clusters of four and U-shape

 

Plasma Panel Displays

50" plasma display panels are placed on each side wall to facilitate group work and presentations. They can display any computer or video source in the room and attached side-mounted speakers provide audio to the group independent of the room audio.

Back Counter Area

This area provides counter workspace and storage cabinets. A sink, microwave and refrigorator are available for “kitchen” (non-hazardous) science experiments.
