The Multimedia Research and Development Laboratory enables faculty and students to develop and research computer-based instructional materials. It provides tools that integrate text, sound, graphics, animation, and video into a single project. Three areas of focus have been identified as priorities in the use of Multimedia Research and Development in the College of Education.
- Development of Multimedia Research and Development educational materials for individuals and groups.
- Support for Multimedia-aided presentations in the classroom.
- Support for scholarly research in the field of Multimedia Research and Development, to aid in the understanding of this implications of this new technology on the teaching and learning process.
This facility is designed to meet the challenges posed by these applications, while maintaining the flexibility needed to meet new challenges and new technologies. The lab offers a variety of services including open lab hours. It provides ten Mac Pros and nine Dell Pentium 4 Optiplex GX 620s equipped with DVD burners configured for professional quality multimedia development. The room is also equipped with an Instructor Console with projection capabilities.
