Computer Labs & Classrooms

The Learning Technology Center offers a wide range of computer facilities and services. Click on the Computer Lab links at left to see information on each facility. Use of lab facilities is limited to College of Education faculty, staff and students or anyone currently enrolled in an Education course. Enter SZB 439 or 536. Patrons use their EID to log in to workstations in the computer labs on a walk-in basis.

Faculty

Faculty may reserve entire laboratories for classes, and UT-sponsored research projects and demonstrations. Other equipment available for checkout include Macintosh carts, PC carts, and PowerBooks.

Network Access

All of the Lab's computers have direct access to UTnet and the Internet. Wireless access is available in all the labs, throughout the Sanchez building and in many areas in Bellmont and Anna Hiss Gym. TeachNet access is also available.

Applications

A variety of popular applications are available for use in the labs, including Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suites, PowerPoint, SPSS, and Internet applications. Educational programs covering subjects such as English, Math, Science and Foreign Language are cataloged for easy access.

Printing

Laser printing is provided through the ITS Remote Printing system. Students enter their EID and password and use prepaid Bevo Bucks. Black and white printing is available in the 4th and 5th floor areas of the LTC, as well as the Bellmont 844 computer lab, and prints are retrieved at the printer. A color printer is also available on the 5th floor. Black and white prints are 11¢ and color prints are 80¢.

Data Storage

Data may not be stored on LTC computers. UT’s ITS provides all faculty, staff, and students with 1 GB of free data storage on WebSpace. This is the best way to save files and make them available from any Web-access computer.

Reserve LTC Computer Labs

Requests to reserve a computer lab for a certain date and time may be made at any time, the farther in advance, the better.  All requests should be submitted at least 48 hours before a resource is actually needed. If a request can be honored, a confirmation of the reservation will be sent via email to the requester.

Reserving for the Entire Semester

Requests to reserve a computer lab on a certain day and time for an entire semester should be submitted no later than four weeks before that semester begins. All reservations which have been received by the deadline will be entered into the appropriate reservation schedule and a reservation confirmation will be sent via email to the requester.
