Computer Labs & Classrooms

The Learning Technology Center offers a wide range of computer facilities and technology classrooms. Click on the Computer Lab links at left to see information on each facility. Enter at SZB 439 or 536. Walk-in use of lab computers is limited to College of Education faculty, staff, and students or anyone currently enrolled in an Education course. Patrons use their EID to log in to workstations.

Network Access

All of the LTC Lab's computers have direct access to UTNET and the Internet. Wireless access is available in all the labs, throughout the Sanchez building and in many areas in Bellmont and Anna Hiss Gym.

Applications

A variety of popular applications are available for use in the labs, including Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suites, PowerPoint, SPSS, and Internet applications.

Printing

Laser printing is provided through the ITS Remote Printing system. Students enter their EID and password and use prepaid Bevo Bucks. Both a black and white printer and a color printer are available in 439, and a printer is also available in the Bellmont 844 computer lab. Prints are retrieved at the printer. Black and white prints are 11ยข and color prints are 80¢.

Data Storage

Data may not be stored on LTC computers. UT's ITS provides all faculty, staff, and students with 1 GB of free data storage on WebSpace. This is the best way to save files and make them available from any Web-access computer.

Reserve LTC Computer Labs

LTC Computer Labs may be reserved at no charge for College of Education instructional and administrative purposes, and University of Texas courses and other activities directly related to UT student instruction. College of Education courses and instructional activities receive top priority when assessing resource availability.

LTC Computer Labs are also available for non-instructional purposes, such as UT-sponsored conferences, seminars, workshops, and externally funded research and projects. Fees apply to these types of events to cover any LTC staff personnel costs for technical or customer support associated with the event.

LTC Computer Labs may be reserved during normal workday hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, non-UT holidays), subject to availability.

  • Requests to reserve a computer lab for a certain date and time may be made at any time, the farther in advance, the better.
  • All requests should be submitted at least 48 hours before a resource is actually needed.
  • If a request can be honored, a confirmation of the reservation will be sent via email to the requester.
  • Additional equipment, such as laptop fleets, can be reserved for delivery.

Reserving for the Entire Semester

Requests to reserve a computer lab on a certain day and time for an entire semester should be submitted no later than four weeks before that semester begins. All reservations that have been received by this deadline will be entered into the appropriate reservation schedule and a reservation confirmation will be sent via email to the requester.
