LTC Director Receives Honorary Doctor of Letters Degree - November 29, 2011

Paul E. Resta, professor in the College of Education’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction and director of the Learning Technology Center, recently received an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Russia’s Moscow State University for Economics, Statistics, and Informatics. The award was in recognition of Resta’s global leadership in information and communication technologies (ICT) in education as well as his contributions to the field of instructional technology, and was presented by the president of the university, Vladimir Tikhomirov.
Resta was in Moscow to present the keynote address to the Third International Research-Training Conference on ICT in Education. He also gave the keynote speech at a symposium on ICT in education at Moscow State University, where he was presented with the award. “It was a complete surprise. I am very honored to receive it,” said Resta.
Resta holds the Ruth Knight Milliken Professorship and teaches advanced graduate courses in instructional design and computer-supported collaborative learning. His current work focuses on technology use in teacher education, the design of Web-based learning environments, and the use of technology to enhance learning opportunities for students in isolated areas.
