Content Management System for College of Education Web Sites Goes Live
You may not notice anything different about the College of Education Web sites, including the Learning Technology Center (LTC) and academic department Web sites. Or, perhaps you did see a few slight differences in the design here and there.
But those minor changes signal a major transformation in the way the Web sites are now programmed. They are now based on a Content Management System (CMS) that provides a structured format and allows the site to be more easily updated and managed.
The CMS is based on the MODx application and was configured by LTC Web Applications Developer Shaun McCormick. The LTC’s Web Designer, Michael Arbore, converted the College and LTC sites and assisted College Web Committee representatives with the changeover of their sites.
The new system allows users to easily add or edit pages, without having to use Dreamweaver. Users can be given access to as many or as few pages as needed, so departments can more easily delegate site upkeep to more staff.
The CMS is just the latest example of how the College Web Committee works to continually improve the College Web sites. The Committee will next focus on developing a database of College course information for the Web site.
