Presidential Timeline Receives A+ Review from Education World - October 31st., 2007
A review of the Presidential Timeline Web site by Education World
has earned their highest rating of A+. The Education World Web site,
billed as “The Educator’s Best Friend,” is widely used among educators
and features information on lesson planning, professional development,
and school issues, as well as educational Web site reviews.
The Learning Technology Center (LTC) developed the Presidential Timeline in partnership with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and the other presidential libraries. The interactive online resource provides hundreds of digitized primary source artifacts from the libraries, such as audio and video clips, photos, and documents that give a unique view into critical moments in history. The Timeline also provides curricular materials to help teachers incorporate its use into their lessons. The project was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the UT General Libraries, and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation.
Education
World called the Presidential Timeline “informative and thought
provoking” and praised its site design, organization, and wide appeal
to students, teachers, and history buffs. You can read the review online.
The LTC is continuing to work with the presidential libraries to add content to the site. A grant proposal that would fund Presidential Timeline developer meetings at four of the libraries, along with major additions to the Timeline’s digitized artifacts and curricular materials, has recently been submitted to the National Endowment for the Humanities.
