LTC Hires Grants and Contracts Specialist
- May 14th., 2007
Jennifer Gorenstein
The Learning Technology Center (LTC) is pleased to announce that Jennifer Gorenstein has been hired as a Grants and Contracts Specialist. This is a new position in the LTC’s Projects and Programs Area, in which Jennifer will work with Coordinator Ken Tothero to facilitate the research and submission of externally funded grant proposals. She will work with LTC administrative staff to administer grant budgets and to ensure compliance with grantor regulations. She will also help Ken develop a long-term strategy for pursuing external projects.
“Since this is a new position, what exactly the job entails will be unfolding as we work, and that is very exciting,” says Jennifer. After only three days on the job, she helped the LTC submit an important grant proposal, and this gave her an instant appreciation for the LTC staff. “This is a great team. Everyone is so responsive and hard-working.”
Jennifer’s career has previously focused on work in the non-profit sector. Most recently, she was the associate director of an outreach and education program for The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Science Park Research Division, in Smithville, Texas. Before that, she worked at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where she developed and implemented programs focused on environmental health issues for K-12 schools and the general public. Her experience with grant applications and programmatic development should be invaluable to her work for the LTC.
Jennifer has a B.A. in Philosophy from Indiana University and is currently working on a master’s degree at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Jennifer grew up near Chicago, but has been in Texas since 1996. She enjoys photography and hiking in her spare time.
