President Powers Visits the Learning Technology Center - April 3rd., 2006
University of Texas at Austin President William Powers, Jr. visited the Learning Technology Center March 27. The visit was part of a College of Education tour for the new president, who began his tenure February 1. LTC Director Paul Resta greeted President Powers in the Advanced Applications Laboratory and then showed him the Distance Learning Classroom.
Dr. Resta described the LTC’s collaboration with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and UTOPIA on the “Presidential Timeline,” a National Endowment for the Humanities funded project to develop a Web-based resource that will give the public access to digitized artifacts from presidential library archives. President Powers thought the project was interesting and said that it will be an important resource for K-12 education.
The president ended his LTC visit with a walk-through of the IDEA Studio, Model Technology Classroom, Student Study Area, and Media Lab Equipment Checkout.
