LTC's New PCs, Further AT Lab Expansion Greet Returning Students - January 4th, 2006

Students returning to the Learning Technology Center in spring 2006 will find new, upgraded PC workstations and a further expanded Assistive Technology Lab.

The Learning Technology Center will greet spring 2006 College of Education students with newly upgraded PC workstations throughout its facilities, including the 4th Floor PC Lab, the Multimedia R&D Lab, 4th and 5th Floor Open Labs, and Bellmont Hall’s Kinesiology Lab. The workstations are Dell Pentium 4s with DVD burners.

Students will also find a further expanded Assistive Technology Lab, where specialized equipment and materials for accommodating people with disabilities are displayed and demonstrated. An initial expansion in February 2005 allowed the lab to move into an unused portion of an adjoining room. The latest expansion, funded by a 2005-2006 Technology Vision Plan project, removed two wall sections, creating one large L-shaped room for the lab.

The renovation will allow all the lab areas, such as Home Settings and Early Childhood, to look more realistic and display more equipment. Large group orientations will also be more easily accomodated. View more information on the AT Lab, or contact Marcie Bump at mbump@teachnet. edb.utexas.edu or 471-4004.
