Convergence Collaborative Develops Innovative Projects   - March 8th, 2006

The Convergence Collaborative has worked over the last two years on innovative projects which bring together their social studies and instructional technology expertise to produce inquiry-based learning experiences. In projects such as the Election Portfolio Digital Documentary, the group has created technology-infused curricula in which computer use and digital media production become transparent parts of the learning process, allowing students to not only learn how to use digital media, but to express themselves in ways they may not have been capable before. Read more about their work on The Convergence Collaborative Web site.

The group, led by Dr. Mary Lee Webeck, Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, includes doctoral candidate Brent Hasty, Ken Tothero, coordinator of the IDEA Studio, the Learning Technology Center’s faculty instructional technology support unit, and Dr. Karen French, instructional technology specialist in the IDEA Studio. Their innovative collaboration has garnered them a nomination for the American Educational Research Association’s 2006 Jan Hawkins Award, which honors work that explores and demonstrates new ways to use technology in education.
