Request for Proposals

Each fall the College of Education accepts proposals for a new round of the Vision Awards, supporting innovative and visionary instructional uses of technology throughout the College. As always, awards may build upon existing efforts or support the development of new projects.

Project Requirements

Proposed projects should:

• Incorporate technology in a way that will enhance and/or expand the faculty member's classroom instruction.
• Be of a scope that will require approximately 80 to 200 person-hours to complete, though larger projects may be considered if proposed by a team of faculty members.
• Be sustainable without additional Vision Award program support once development is completed.

Special Focus Areas

We have a fixed amount of funding specifically dedicated to projects that utilize handheld/portable devices in support of instruction. So if you have a vision for the instructional application of PDAs, cell phones, or other portable devices, let us hear about it!

Proposal Requirements

Proposals should be brief (past successful proposals averaged three pages) and include a description of:

• The goals and specific objectives of the project.
• The final product.
• The audience for the product (including how many individuals might benefit from it).
• The activities necessary for the realization of the project.
• Any resources already in place that will contribute to the completion of the proposed project.
• How the project will be sustained once development is completed.

Timeline

The 2007 Vision Award RFP is closed and recipients have been chosen. RFPs for the 2008 Vision Awards will be solicited in Fall 2008.
