KITE Technology Integration Case Library
The Learning Technology Center worked in partnership with seven other Big 12 universities on this project, headed up by The University of Missouri at Columbia and funded by the US Department of Education through its PT3 (Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology) program. The three-year project began in 2002 and ended in June 2005.
The goal of the project was the development of an online community of practice centered around a case-based knowledge repository that supports and enables learning through sharing, communal understanding through storytelling, the continual exchange and creation of new knowledge, and collective problem solving among K-12 schools and teacher education programs. The project developed a sophisticated case-based search engine and collected and indexed over 1400 cases that are included within the repository, which can be accessed at kite.missouri.edu.
In the second year of the project, the Learning Technology Center continued its efforts around case collection and indexing. Emphasis was also placed on publicizing the resource and developing activities that utilize it for preservice teachers. In its third and final year, the project team explored the deployment of the search engine in various content domains.
