Dr. Paul E. Resta, LTC Director and Professor of Instructional Technology, addressed the Digital Equity Summit held July 1st at the National Educational Computing Conference in San Antonio. He described the many challenges that exist in the United States and around the world to providing equitable access to technology resources.

LTC Receives NEH Grant to Conduct History Teaching Workshops
The Learning Technology Center is pleased to announce an award of $30,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities to host a four-day workshop for history teachers to learn about the Presidential Timeline and the use of primary sources in their teaching.

Consolidated Open Lab, New Lab Printers Greet Summer Students
College of Education students will see several changes in the Learning Technology Center?s computer labs as summer classes begin. There is no longer a Fifth Floor Open Lab, and all Open Lab users will now be directed to the Fourth Floor Open Lab. The change will consolidate all LTC lab computers and printers on the fourth floor, simplifying our service layout and streamlining maintenance.

Careful Planning Behind Recent Leopard Upgrades
College of Education computer users were eager to start using the latest Mac OS X version, 10.5 "Leopard," as soon as it was introduced last October. But the Technical and Network Services of the LTC had to take a more cautious approach.

Faculty Show Off their 2008 Vision Award Projects
Many College of Education faculty, staff, and students visited the LTC last Friday afternoon for the 2008 Vision Awards Showcase. While munching cookies, they chatted with faculty who described and demonstrated their Vision Award technology projects, which are created to support College of Education classroom instruction.

Consider Buying Mac Leopard OS before April 1 Price Increase
The Learning Technology Center's Laptop Initiative for Future Educators (LIFE) coordinator, Chad Fulton, would like all Professional Development Sequence students to know that the current discount on the Mac Leopard OS (10.5) at the Campus Computer Store, located in FAC, will end March 31. The current price of $34 will rise to $99 on April 1.

Use of LTC's e-Portfolio System Continues to Expand
The Learning Technology Center’s IDEA Studio continues to refine, improve, and expand the use of its e-Portfolio system this semester. Students in three College of Education teacher education cohorts are now using the system to store up to 1 GB of coursework files, create Web pages to organize and display their work, and invite others to view the resulting “online resumes.”

Content Management System for College of Education Web Sites Goes Live
The College of Education Web sites, including the Learning Technology Center and academic department Web sites are now based on a Content Management System that provides a structured format and allows the site to be more easily updated and managed.

STAC Seeks Student Input on College Technology
Replace all chalkboards in the College of Education with whiteboards. Provide every student 1000 pages of free printing each semester. Train faculty and students to use existing technologies more effectively. These are just a few of the ideas that students have suggested to the College of Education Student Technology Advisory Committee (STAC).
