Ken Tothero

Ken Tothero is the coordinator of External and Special Projects for the Learning Technology Center. Ken's background includes eleven years as a secondary level physics teacher and five years in the educational multimedia industry. He authored the Holt Physics Interactive Tutor, developed for Holt, Rinehart and Winston and winner of a NewMedia Magazine InVision Award as the best education product of the year. Ken came to the LTC in 2001. His professional interests include online learning environments, teaching and learning using handheld devices, primary source use in social studies education, and one-to-one technology environments in K-12 and higher education.

Barbara Morris

Barbara Morris is the Grants and Contracts Specialist for the Learning Technology Center.  Barbara has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting. Before coming to the LTC, she worked at UT Sponsored Projects in Award Administration. She has over twelve years of contracts and grants experience at UT Austin and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Barbara is also a Certified Research Administrator.

David Kim

David Kim is the Vision Studio's s/w developer, providing expertise in C/C++, Java/JSP, Python, Ruby, C#/VB/Silverlight, Flex/Flash/Actionscript, Oracle/MSSQL/MySQL as well as in other areas. David holds a Master of Science in Information Studies degree and his areas of interest are in Information Retrieval and Information Architecture.

David developed a content-based multimedia retrieval system, and is currently working with Data Science, including Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Big Data technologies, and Data Visualization.

David completed Ph.D coursework and holds a Master's degree in Computational Linguistics and developed several Natural Language Processing applications. David joined the the Learning Technology Center in 2005. Since then his work has included back-end programming, front-end design, and database engineering.

Shin-Hyun Ka

Shin-Hyun Ka is a graduate research assistant in the Vision Awards, for which he serves as Web designer, providing expertise in CSS, Dreamweaver, ImageReady, Photoshop, and PHP. Shin Hyun is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Policy and Planning. He received his MA in Educational Administration and has an undergraduate degree in Education. His professional interests include organizational learning and knowledge management using informational technology. He has been with the LTC since 2005.

Daniel Veliz

Daniel Veliz is the Visual/Audio Specialist for the Vision Studio. He provides insight to video and multimedia applications and has expertise in Final Cut Pro, Flash, and Audio/Visual for producing/editing various projects within the program. Daniel holds a BS (Bachelor of Science) degree from the Radio-Television-Department at the University of Texas at Austin. He joined the LTC in 2007.

Ryan Crowley

Ryan Crowley works as a graduate research assistant on the Presidential Timeline Project. He is currently in the Master’s program in Curriculum and Instruction and is working toward the PhD. program in Social Studies Education. Ryan spent eight years teaching high school social studies in Houston and Austin before beginning his graduate work. He joined the Presidential Timeline Project team in 2008 and has worked primarily with the development of the site’s educational activities and with the development of summer teacher institutes.
