Aaron Rochlen Long Fellow and Professor in Educational Psychology
Dr. Aaron Rochlen, professor in the Department of
Educational Psychology, is a fellow in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long
Endowed Faculty Fellows Fund. Faculty fellowships are designed to recognize
tenured faculty in the College of Education who have established a record of
excellence in teaching, scholarly research and contribution to the College. Rochlen’s
research focuses on men and masculinity, with a particular emphasis on men's
mental health and help-seeking patterns. Within this area, recent research has
addressed help-seeking alternatives for men, non-traditional work/career roles,
and men and depression. He has also conducted research adding to the literature
documenting the negative physical and psychological consequences (e.g.,
depression, anxiety, relationship problems) associated with adherence to the
traditional male role.
In addition to his other responsibilities, Rochlen also serves as Chief Academic Information Officer in the CoE where he is overseeing a redesign of the CoE website. Rochlen has extensive media experience, having been interviewed by a range of major print and broadcast media outlets, and he is viewed nationally as one of the top scholars in the field of men and masculinity. Rochlen has also been the recipient of numerous research and teaching-with-technology awards. In addition, he serves as Director of the Communications and Technology Board for a division of the American Psychological Association.
