Richard Mattingly
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs
As Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Richard Mattingly oversees the daily student support functions of the Student Division of the Dean's Office. He is responsible for Academic Advising Programs, New Student Orientation, Degree Evaluation, Study Abroad Programs, and Student Organizations. Mr. Mattingly has worked in the College of Education since 1997 and at the University since 1985. Before coming to the College of Education he worked as a Counseling Specialist in the Health Professions Office, and as a Student Development Specialist in the Office of the Dean of Students.
In 2000 Mr. Mattingly won the National Academic Advising Association Outstanding Advisor Award and has been the recipient of the James Vick Texas Excellence Award for Academic Advising on three separate occasions. In addition, he is a past president of the Academic Counselors Association. He received his B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972 and his Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from Southwest Texas State University in 1984.
