Welcome Today families, educators, health care workers and the community at large grapple with the pressure of attempting to ensure that everyone will have the best opportunity to pursue excellence. This encompasses the often competing arenas of sports/entertainment and education; work, family and social life. Sometimes traumatic occurrences in one area, such as personal injury, financial loss, family loss, etc., affect the outcomes in others. Whether the traumatic event occurs as a result of sports activity, accidental trauma or other causes, it impacts all aspects of the survivor’s life including home, work, social and school. Detour Ahead is a 501 (c) 3 foundation established to help individuals coping with life’s crises; specializing in brain injury rehabilitation, education and research. The Detour Ahead Foundation offers all individuals: • education regarding the stages of recovery from brain injury • information including coping techniques • encouragement in the often-frustrating rehabilitation process • instruction in the employment of the resources available • evaluation steps for the survivor and their community • up to date knowledge gained through research
