MOO, MUD, and MUSH
MUDs=Multi-user Dimension (or Multi-user Dungeon, Multi-user Dialogue) What Are MOO, MUD, and MUSH? MOOs, MUDs and MUSHs are virtual spaces where many people can congregate and interact at the same time. Each of them has their own special characteristics, but generally speaking, they are computer game-like virtual environment where people communicate via text. Users assume the role of a character and wander around in different rooms (spaces) to chat with other characters or explore new territories. MUDs encourage users to build up the powers of a dungeon and dragon-like characters in a world full of creatures. MOOs allow the manipulation of and interaction with cyber-objects (adjunct programs). MUSHes evolved from MUDs and were invented to encourage character to character interaction (and player to player interaction). Today, "MUD" often stands for the whole class of MUD-like games.
