The Teacher Education Career Fair
Each semester, Education Career Services hosts a Teacher Education Career Fair. Over 100 recruiting entities from Texas and other states, some as far away as California, New York, and Alaska attend hoping to hire UT graduates.
The next Teacher Education Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Frank C. Erwin Center. The morning portion of the fair is reserved for students to browse and meet the recruiting entities, while the afternoon portion of the fair is reserved for interviews by recruiter invitation. The Career Fair is open to the public and admission is free.
This is an excellent opportunity for College of Education students to familiarize themselves with the job market and get acquainted with what the various districts and other recruiting entities have to offer. Undergraduate candidates in Teacher Certification and graduate students from Curriculum & Instruction, School of Information, Educational Administration, and Educational Psychology are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to talk with recruiters and make contacts with the different recruiting entities.
It is important for participants to be well prepared. Attendees should review districts’ Web sites, prepare and take abundant copies of résumés, and dress professionally.
