R. J. Cooper and Associates

RJ Cooper makes special needs instructional software, access software, switch interfaces, and adapted trackballs and joysticks. RJ produces everything he makes for Mac and Windows, as well as his 'old' library of Apple II software. Free demo's are available. Rhamdec, Inc. is a manufacturer of attractive, high quality productivity products for children and adults. The company's first product line is the patented MYDESC Custom Desktop, which is an adjustable tilting work surface available for wheelchairs, scooters, sofas, beds, tables or the floor. The MYDESC line was developed with input from end-users, educators and health care professionals. The company believes that comfort and mobility can be achieved through good products designs that are both functional and attractive.

Raised Dot Computing, Inc.

RDC is dedicated to helping people with vision impairments make the maximum use of micro- computers. Their continuing goal is enabling people to work independently to discover the pleasures and challenges of computers. Their software is used to move information rapidly and accurately between print and grade II braille, increasing the available braille. A new product gives access to AppleWorks. They recognize that many people with vision impairments are not braille readers. Their software supports large print output on screen and paper and voice output.

Roger Wagner Publishing, Inc.

RWP designs Apple-specific software for use in the office, home, or school. Their current leading program, HyperStudio, is the top hypermedia product available. The recent Apple Achievement Awards recognized HyperStudio as the Best Software of the Year, Best Multimedia Product, and Best Apple IIgs Software. RWP is strongly dedicated to education and special needs. Many of the new features in HyperStudio v. 3.0 are specifically for the educational and special needs user. With these added features, HyperStudio can now reach many more new and first-time users.

Simtech Publications

Simtech Publications was established in 1991 with a goal of developing and marketing low-cost switch accessible software for children with disabilities. All of Simtech's programs are extremely simple, user-friendly and focus on developing concepts and motor skills related to switch control. Bill Lynn, Simtech's owner and software developer, is a speech/language pathologist with 20 years experience in the area of assistive technology and augmentative communication. Skills Bank Corporation

Skills Bank products are designed to support teachers of basic skills, by providing student activities and evaluation tools that would require one-on-one teaching in a traditional educational setting. All Skills Bank products provide individual tutorials which evaluate the student, suggest lesson plans automatically or according the instructor's choices, give hints and prompts, and reinforce learning in other pedagogically sound ways.

SoftTouch/kidTECH

The goal of kidTECH developers is to create software which the young child with disabilities would enjoy and at the same time learning would occur. kidTECH's software is based in song. The programs include songs common to the regular and special early childhood curriculums around the country. Each program includes a scanning mode for single switch operation with an option for an auditory or quite scan. Access options include mouse, TouchWindow, IntelliKeys, and Ke:nx. Printed overlays for the IntelliKeys are available both in print and on disk.

SOAR (Searchable Online Accommodation Resource)

Soar is an international toll-free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations and the employability of people with disabilities. This system is designed to let users explore various accommodation options for persons with disabilities in the work setting.

The UCLA Microcomputer Project develops software that is physically accessible and developmentally appropriate for pre-school handicapped children (18 mos. to 5 yrs. of age). The team strives to create software that will promote language skills, motor skills, socialization, and enhance play. The software is accessed either by a single switch or by the Power Pad accompanied with picture overlays. Also available are a hardware/software resource pamphlet and a booklet providing general guidelines for beginning computer use with pre-school handicapped children.

The DARCI TOO, is a universal alternate input device for both Apple and IBM computers. Because this device has a number of operating modes and can be used with a variety of interface devices (joysticks, switches, matrix keyboards, etc.), it is especially useful as a tool to assess a person's control capabilities. The Morse Code Darci Card uses the PCMCIA bus to provide a transparent method controlling a computer with Morse Code. All keyboard and mouse functions are available as well as the use of switches, joysticks and pointing devices to enter single, double and triple input Morse Code.

William K. Bradford Publishing

William K. Bradford Publishing Company produces K-12 educational software. They carry the school versions of product lines like Explore-A-Story, and Explore-A-Science. Additionally, William K.
