Judy Lynn Software: Judy Lynn Software was founded in 1991 by Elliot Pludwinski, a programmer, who could not find lower level single switch software for the IBM PC for his daughter Judy, who was born with Microcephaly. With encouragement and guidance from Judy's teacher, the programs were written for children with a cognitive age level as early as nine months. The six software titles in the product line are: Cause & Effect, Cause & Effect Carnival, Visual Tracking, Fundamental Concepts, Switch Art, and Visual Motor Skills (1994 Parent's Choice Honor).
Keyboard Alternatives & Vision Solutions: Keyboard Alternatives & Vision Solutions was founded in 1989 by Jon Simkovitz, selling magnification devices, screen magnification software and reading machines for the visually impaired and blind. Jon quickly recognized a growing need for ergonomic products for the workplace, such as keyboards, mice, keyboard trays, adjustable furniture, etc. The company now provides hundreds of products of this type as well as voice dictation software, telephone headsets, fluorescent lighting filters, magnification systems and Braille products. We distinguish ourselves from other vendors by finding appropriate solutions for people in need rather than attempting to "sell products". We offer customers assistance in product selection, training and technical support to maximize product usefulness and customer satisfaction.
Laureate Learning Systems, Inc.: Laureate is dedicated to the innovative use of computer technology for special education and rehabilitation. Laureate offers programs for language development, concept development and processing, augmentative communication, and instructional games. Laureate programs are easy-to-use, flexible, and above all, effective. Natural-sounding speech and colorful pictures motivate and guide the learner, making most of the programs appropriate for nonreaders.
Lawrence Productions: Lawrence Productions has been a producer of interactive educational software since 1980. Lawrence programs span a wide range of reading and interest levels and are designed for pre-K, elementary, secondary, college, and adult education classes. Lawrence now offers a complementary line of educational videos.
LD Resources: LD Resources creates HyperCard stacks that are simple, easy-to-use, and inexpensive. They have reference, entertainment, clip art, language learning, story-telling, and many other kinds of stacks ranging in price from $5 to $20 and aimed at a variety of ages and abilities. Free and shareware stacks can be found on most online services and in many Macintosh user group libraries. Their commercial stacks can be ordered directly from them. Their goal is to help make the people who use our products a little bit more independent and happy than they might be otherwise.
Little Planet Publishing: Little Planet Publishing develops and publishes curriculum-based software for early education. The Little Planet Literacy Series is a language arts series with current titles for kindergarten to third grade levels. The series is the result of four years of joint research and development between Little Planet Publishing and the Learning Technology Center (LTC) at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. The LTC is internationally known for its research into how technology may be fully integrated into the classroom curriculum.
Lorien Systems: Lorien Systems set about developing software products that would allow people with various disabilities, ranging from literacy difficulties to motion and dexterity problems, gain a much greater degree of access to the computer. Products have evolved, through listening to the requirements of the professionals and the end users, into some of the most innovative and easy to use products for the computer user with disabilities - either as a means of communication or as a means to fulfilling employment
