AbleNet, Inc. develops and markets products and services to meet the needs of children and adults with severe disabilities. Our products include simple technology systems and related materials that allow users to actively participate in daily activities. Academic Software, Inc.

ASI publishes and/or markets several products. The Adaptive Device Locator System (ADLS) is a database of adaptive devices and vendor information for Apple II, Macintosh, or MS/DOS computer systems. The Unicorn Overlay Express produces computer-generated overlays for Unicorn keyboards using picture libraries (e.g. Picture Communication Symbols, KeyPics, Core Picture Vocabulary). The Picture Icon X-CHANGE program allows users to translate pictures from our libraries into programs like LessonMaker, Tutor-Tech, and ToolKit.

Adaptivation, Inc.

Adaptivation designs products for individuals with disabilities to provide them a means of communication and control. Our unique line of switches include Traction Pads, Pal Pads, and the Vibration Switch. Our affordable AAC products include the VoicePal family, Sequencer, Chipper and the DEC-AID. American Thermoform Corporation 

American Thermoform currently offers the Ohtsuki BT-5000 Print/Printer, the only printer available that produces braille and print on the same page; the Comet personal printer (braille only) and KTS braille displays in 80 and 40 cell options.

Antarq offers personal computer technology for special education and rehabilitation for bilinqual populations in Mexico, Central and South America, Puerto Rico and USA. Special equipment is available for visually impaired, deaf-mute and individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities and the professionals who work with them. Applied to all age groups in education, professional rehabilitation, vocation, and independent living. All of our products have been selected, adapted or produced to be applied and used by Spanish spoken or bilinqual (Spanish/English, Portuguese/English spoken) populations.

Through their participation in the Alliance, Apple is demonstrating their intent to be responsive to the requirements of consumers with disabilities and to work with them and the ATA developers of assistive technologies to ensure access by all to emerging Apple technology. The first formal joint activity is participation by the Alliance in Apple's iMac Computer Learning Month sweepstakes along with partners Don Johnston, Inc. and IntelliTools. Arkenstone is a nonprofit organization that has become the leading provider of reading machines for people with visual and reading disabilities. Our goal is to make better and more affordable reading systems, so that more people can access print independently. We make stand-alone reading machines for about $3,500 and PC-based reading systems for about $2500. Our software can convert an existing PC to a reading machine for under $1000.

Brown & Co. is a small company founded to manufacture industrial damper control systems for the asphalt industry. With the advent of the personal computer, Cal Brown, the founder, and Dr. George Markowsky, University of Maine, devised the PC-Pedal to avoid the necessity of reaching for the Shift, Control, Alternate, and Backspace/Delete keys. Using a PC-Pedal, a person with the ability to strike a key and simultaneously close an external switch is able to have full access to the personal computer keyboard.

CAST, Inc. (Center for Applied Special Technology)

Founded in 1984, CAST is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to expand the opportunities for all people through the use of innovative technology. This mission is achieved through a combination of training, evaluations, and research and development. The ResearchWare products developed out of the needs determined through our research and evaluations of people with disabilities. ResearchWare includes ClickReader, ClickWriter, Talking Calculator and much more.

Claris Corporation

CLARIS Corporation develops, markets, and supports application software for Macintosh, Windows and Apple II computers. It began shipping Claris-labeled products in 1988 to business, government, education, and technical markets. Claris's product line includes integrated productivity applications, word processing, graphics, data management, planning, CAD (computer aided design). Claris, headquartered in Santa Clara, CA, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Apple Computer, Inc.

Closing The Gap, Inc.

Closing The Gap is an information source working exclusively in the field of microcomputers and persons with disabilities. Their goal is to discover ways that microcomputer-related products are being used in special education and rehabilitation and to disseminate that knowledge as widely as possible. Their products include Closing The Gap, a bimonthly newspaper and an annual international conference for special education and rehabilitation professionals.

Creative Communicating

Creative Communicating is a small company that is dedicated to creating practical and affordable materials for children, and educational resources for parents and/or service providers. The company develops, publishes, and markets over 50 products, including books, software, videos, and intervention materials. It has brought to the marketplace innovative products in the early childhood and emergent literacy arenas. It developed the Storytime resource books and software. Creative Communicating maintains a world wide web site that provides consumer information and support including a free electronic newsletter containing up-to-date topics in assistive technology and literacy.
