Tara Burnett, MS, ATC

Tara joined the UT staff in 2006.  She was the certified athletic trainer with the women’s softball team for one year before moving to her current position covering the Men’s Track and Field team in 2007.

Tara is a native of Warsaw, MO.  In 2004, she graduated with her B.S. in Athletic Training from the CAAHEP-accredited curriculum program at Central Methodist College (CMC). Her primary sport coverage responsibilities included football and baseball.  At CMC, she competed in basketball and track while graduating Magna Cum Laude with Honors.  Upon graduating, Tara provided interim medical coverage for the Mid-Missouri Mavericks minor league baseball team in Columbia, MO.

Following her graduation from CMC, Tara moved to Knoxville, TN, to attend the University of Tennessee as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. She worked with Women's Rowing and Softball while there, with the teams making respective appearances at the NCAA Rowing Championship in 2005 and the Women's College World Series in 2006. Administrative duties included coordination of the women's drug testing program.  In May 2006, Tara graduated with an M.S. in Sport Management with a 4.0 GPA.  While at Tennessee, she also worked with the Knox County Parks and Recreation Department, primarily covering pee-wee football, and many Lady Vol Athletic Camps.
