Gabe Perlaza joined the University of Texas Sports Medicine staff in 2008 as an assistant athletic trainer with Football. He moved to his current position as the head athletic trainer with women's soccer in 2010.
Perlaza comes to UT after concluding a yearlong internship with the Cleveland Browns. Prior to his stint in Ohio, he received a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from Texas Tech University in May 2007. While in graduate school, Gabe served as a graduate assistant with the football team and both men's and women's golf teams. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Alabama, where he was a student athletic trainer for three years. He worked with the football, women's basketball, women's volleyball, women's soccer, and men's cross country and track/field teams during his time at Alabama. He also worked as a student athletic trainer summer intern for the Browns training camp and preseason in 2003 and 2004.
Gabe was born and raised in Cali, Columbia but has resided in the states since 1998. He lives in Austin with his wife, April.
