Ronda Mackey currently serves as clinical manager for UT Athletics. In this capacity, she facilitates the assessment and treatment of student athletes, as well supports the team physicians and athletic training staff in integrating a seamless continuum of care for the UT athletes. Ms. Mackey has extensive experience in the medical profession, having worked for more than 10 years at St. David's HealthCare in a variety of clinical roles. In her most recent position as outreach coordinator for ONE CALL and EMS Relations, Ms. Mackey has worked as a liaison between St. David's HealthCare and local and rural hospitals, EMS, urgent care clinics and other health-related entities to triage acute care transfers of patients into the appropriate facility within the St. David's HealthCare system. In this capacity, Ms. Mackey also assisted rural hospitals in developing and implementing cardiac, stroke and hypothermia care. Prior to this, Ms. Mackey worked as the clinical educator at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center Emergency Department, overseeing the education and evaluation of clinical staff. Ms. Mackey has also served in the emergency department of St. David's Medical Center, where she was responsible for triaging and coordinating patient flow and actively participating in acute patient care treatment. Ms. Mackey is an experienced clinical educator. In addition to teaching advance clinical skills at Austin Community College, she serves as American Heart Association regional faculty for pediatric advanced life support (PALS). She also conducts ongoing training for nurses, physicians and EMS clinicians as well as various trainings throughout the medical community on a variety of topics, including advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced cardiac life support, trauma nursing care, basic cardiac life support, pediatric emergency nursing and comprehensive advanced life support. Ms. Mackey is currently pursuing her master of science degree in nursing.
