A member of the UT athletic training staff since 1993, assistant athletic trainer LaGwyn Durden is a vital part of the Longhorns track and field program. Durden has helped the Texas health-care program as one of the nation's best. Her primary role is working with the track and field and cross country teams managing the medical and rehabilitative needs of the student-athletes. She is part of a sports medicine program which is renowned for its innovative attention and research in women's health.

Durden has also served as an athletic trainer with many US National track and field teams including Munich, Germany in 2004, the 2006 World Cup in Athens, Greece, the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio, Brazil, and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. 

Durden joined The University of Texas program in 1993. A native of Jacksonville, Fla., she graduated from Florida's Stanton College Preparatory School before completing her college curriculum at the University of Florida. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in exercise and sports sciences at Florida, then completed one year of Ph.D. work in exercise physiology at Louisiana State University before joining the Texas sports medicine staff.

Durden holds a national certification for massage therapy. She is currently a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

Durden and her husband, Andre, have two children, Caleb born in June 2002 and Jadyn born in February 2005.
