Kenny Boyd joined the UT staff as head football athletic trainer in 2003. A University of Florida graduate, he brings experience from the University of Colorado, Mississippi State University, and Northwestern University.
Boyd comes to Texas from Colorado, where he served for three years as assistant athletic trainer. While at Colorado, he worked primarily with the men's basketball team, as well as with CU's golf and tennis programs. In addition to handling the training program for the Buffaloes' basketball team, he had the opportunity to work with football programs headed by Steve Spurrier (Florida), Jackie Sherrill (Mississippi State) and Gary Barnett (Colorado and Northwestern).
Boyd earned his master's in sports administration degree from Mississippi State in 2000. During his tenure with the Bulldogs, he served as a graduate assistant athletics trainer. His duties at Mississippi State included working with the football team as well as coordinating rehabilitations with the team's physical therapist.
Prior to his time at MSU, her served as an itern at Northwestern University assisting with coverage of Football and Tennis. Boyd is a 1998 graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science, specializing in athletic training.
A native of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Boyd was a four-year letterman in wrestling and worked three years as the student trainer at J.M. Tate High School in Pensacola, Fla. Boyd was married to the former Ellen Marks in May, 2006. He has three children, Taylor, Macy and Owen.
