Application Information

UT Athletic Training Program Directed Observation Students:
If you have either completed the Directed Observation Program (D.O.P.) or you are currently participating in the D.O.P., please follow the directions in the application packet.

Current UT students not enrolled in the Directed Observation Program:
If you are currently enrolled at UT, but have not participated in the Directed Observation Program, please stop by 1005 Bellmont Hall and sign up to meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss your options. You will also be required to attend an orientation meeting with the AT Program faculty. The sign up sheet for the meeting is also located in 1005 Bellmont. During the meeting, we will review the information on the AT Program and speak with you about potential involvement in the Directed Observation Program. All students that plan on applying to the AT Program must attend an orientation meeting. Please see the application packet for details on the admission requirements.

High school & non-UT students:
If you are not attending UT and are not enrolled in another college or university Athletic Training Program complete the University of Texas at Austin regular undergraduate admissions application. Once admitted to the University, contact the Program Director or an academic advisor to express your interest in the AT Program. You should set up an appointment in Bellmont 1005 to meet with an academic advisor to discuss your options. You will also be required to attend an orientation meeting on the AT Program. We do not admit freshman or first year UT students directly into the AT Program– you must first complete the competitive admissions process and the Directed Observation Program. Students transferring from another college or university should note that the UT AT Program will take four years to complete regardless of your previous coursework. You will be required to spend one year in the D.O. Program then, if admitted, it will take you three more years to complete the coursework and clinical rotation requirements. Non-UT students transferring from another Athletic Training Program:
If you are enrolled in another college or university AT Program or if you have completed that program’s version of the Directed Observation Program or “pre-athletic training program”, you should contact the UT Program Director to inform him of your plans to apply as a transfer student. Please see the application packet for specific details and requirements for transfer students. For information on transfer credits click here.
