As part of the Spring 2008 Arts program, this class was offered to adolescents and adults with autism. This program was designed to provide opportunities for participants to engage in recreational activities and explore the process of communication through artistic self expression. Instructors and aides guided participants in the creative process of exploring texture, color, movement, and feelings through the medium of paint. Participants began their painting adventure by expressing themselves through a self portrait assignment. This class provided a great opportunity for participants to work on fine motor skills and concentrated focus as students conveyed their artistic ideas on paper or canvas.
