  • Inaugurated the first Texas Faces the Future Distinguished Lecture

On November 9, 2006, Professor Gary Orfield of the Harvard Civil Rights Project at Harvard University was our first presenter for our Texas Faces the Future Distinguished Lecture.  The title of his talk was “The College Access Crisis and the Role of Affirmative Action:  Texas and the Nation.”

  • Fall Convening on College Readiness

On November 10, 2006, TCEP held a highly successful inaugural convening of over one hundred grassroots and professional education leaders in Texas to discuss from a P16 perspective both the crisis and current policy solutions in our state with regard to students’ under-preparedness for higher education.

  • Policy Seminars

In collaboration with the University Council for Educational Administration located at the University of Texas, TCEP presents the work of UT Faculty with our policy seminars. These seminars or brown bags allow faculty, staff, associates, and students to learn about the educational policy research of UT Faculty. These events create a space in which information is disseminated, thus leading to the development of an informed community that can impact educational policy.
